Vulnerability Is So Powerful

Vulnerability is so powerful! I remember the first time I listened to Brene Brown's TedTalks and I thought YES! That's what I'm talking about! That's how I want to live! That's how I want my girls to see me live! That's how I want every human I know to live!

Living vulnerable means going for it. It means being willing to put ourselves out there, to share our thoughts, to take risks, to trust that we are enough, and being willing to be Noticed.

Being Noticed really does require vulnerability. We all need to be seen, to be heard, and to know we matter. Unfortunately, if we live lives that are more concerned with perfection or living safe from the judgement of others we can't really be seen, we can't really be heard, we can't really be Noticed.

I have a big event coming up on August 21st. It's the first event of this size that I've done this way. Instead of being hired by a business, church, school, or other organization to speak to their group, my event on the 21st is well ... my event. I am putting my heart and soul into it. I find myself wondering (and trying not to worry) about how many people will attend, and if the promotional materials for the event are reaching enough people (or if they are annoying my Facebook friends who keep seeing my face again and again in their feeds).

I know that it will all work out, yet I still feel vulnerable.

I know I feel vulnerable because I had a dream last night that I was speaking and just about everything that could go wrong for a public speaker did (except that when I stood up to speak at least I didn't have mashed potatoes on my black pants which has in fact happened to me before😳).

Vulnerability is powerful! It can make us panic. But here's what I believe … faith and fear require the same amount of imagination, and I choose faith.

Living vulnerable means that I'm going for it. It means that I'm willing to put myself out there, to share my thoughts, to take risks, to trust that I am enough, and willing to be Noticed. I am human and vulnerability comes with the territory. It means that I'm going for it, and that is how I want everyone I know to feel free to live!!
